Homan's first event of the season, with Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes filling out the foursome has put the team one step away from Sunday's championship final. Homan started the game with hammer, their 5-0 record giving the team the advantage. Homan blanked the first two ends, then scored two points in the third end. St-Georges, with Jamie Sinclair, Emily Riley and Lisa Weagle, scored a single in the fourth end, followed by three more single points traded through the seventh end. Trailing 4-2 with hammer in the final end, St-Georges was unable to generate the offence needed to even the score, leaving Homan a steal on the scoreboard. Final score, 5-2 for Homan. Homan advances to play Calgary's Kayla Skrlik in Sunday morning's semifinal. Skrlik won 7-1 over Rebecca Morrison to book her place into the final four. Skrlik has started the season strong, reaching the final in their first two events played. In the other half of the playoff bracket, Japan's Satsuki Fujisawa received a direct bye into the semifinals, where they will face Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni. Tirinzoni won 7-3 over Korea's Eun Ji Gim in their quarterfinal match. The semifinals go Sunday morning at 8:30 am Eastern Time at the Cornwall Curling Club in Cornwall, Ontario.
