Team Brad Jacobs (photo:GSOC), based out of Calgary, Alberta, have earned a spot at the 2025 Montana's Brier in Kelowna, BC. The team had a 53-21 record last year and earned 366 CTRS points. By: Meredith McCullum Brad Jacobs joins teammates Ben Hebert, Brett Gallant and Marc Kennedy as their skip for the 2024-25 season. He is taking over from Brendan Bottcher who has skipped the team the past few seasons since their formation at the start of the 2022-23 season. Bottcher lead his team to a bronze medal finish at the Brier in both 2023-24 and they had success on the Grand Slam tour with 2 wins in 2022-23 and 2 finals in 2024-25. At the end of this season it was announced that he would be leaving the team and shortly after team Rachel Homan from Ontario shared that he would be their coach and Rachel's mixed doubles partner for the 2024-25 season. The rest of the team will continue on with a new leader in Brad Jacobs. Jacobs was at the top of the curling world in 2013 and 2014 when he won gold at the Olympics and silver at Worlds for Canada. He announced in 2022 that he would be taking a break from competitive curling to spend more time with his family. However, that break was short lived as he joined team Reid Carruthers for the 2023-24 season where they made it to the championship round of the Brier. All four members of team Jacobs have represented Canada at the World Championships and the Olympics in past years so they know the pride that comes with wearing the maple leaf. They have a shared goal of a Brier win, returning to the world stage and qualifying for the 2025 Canadian Olympic Trials. |
