Susan Froud wins Stroud Sleeman Cash Spiel
![]() Susan Froud (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) wins the Stroud Sleeman Cash Spiel, defeating Ashley Waye (Toronto, ON) 6-3 at the Stroud Curling Club in Innisfil, Canada. Froud with Lauren Horton at third, Margot Flemming and Megan Arnold on the front end take home the $2,400CDN first place cheque along with 19.996 world ranking points, while Waye receives $1,300CDN and 15.711 world ranking points for their second place finish. Froud opened the scoring stealing 2 in the first end, then added another steal in the second end. Waye scored a single in the third end, then added a steal of their own in the fourth end. Froud scored a single in the fifth end to extend lead to 4-2, then forced Waye to a single in the sixth end before scoring 2 in the seventh end and running Waye out of stones in the 8th for the 6-3 win. In the semifinals, Froud defeated Jaimee Gardner (Chesley, ON) 9-7 and Waye defeated Colleen Madonia (Thornhill, ON) 7-4. Madonia and Gardner earned $950CDN and 12.140 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Froud defeated Cathy Auld (Toronto, ON) 6-5 and Waye defeated Chrissy Cadorin (Thornhill, ON) 5-2. Cadorin, and Auld earned $750CDN along with 8.570 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Froud went 2-2 in the 12 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Froud lost 6-1 to Auld, llosing again to Kristina Adams (Lindsay, ON) 8-3 to fall to 0-2. Froud responded with a 7-6 win over Katelyn Wasylkiw (Unionville, ON), another win against Kim Rhyme (Blaine, USA) 10-5 in their final qualifying round match and snuck into the playoffs with the best tiebreaker shootout among 2-2 teams. |
