Jessica Schultz wins St. Paul Cash Spiel


Jessica Schultz (Saint Paul, Minnesota) wins the St. Paul Cash Spiel, defeating Cora Farrell (Blaine, Minnesota) 6-5 at the St. Paul Curling Club in St. Paul, United States. Schultz with Courtney George at third, Jordan Moulton and Stephanie Senneker on the front end take home the $2,002CDN first place cheque, while Farrell receives $1,376CDN for their second place finish.

Starting with hammer, Schultz scored 1 in the first end, with Farrell responding in the second end scoring 2. Schultz scored a single in the third end, then added steals in the fourth and fifth ends to take a 4-2 lead. Farrell scored a single in the sixth end, then added a steal of 2 in the seventh end to take back the lead but Schultz scored 2 in the eighth end for the 6-5 win.

In the semifinals, Schultz defeated Kim Rhyme (Blaine, Minnesota) 6-4 and Farrell defeated Madison Bear (St. Paul, Minnesota) 5-2. Bear and Rhyme earned $813CDN for their semifinal finishes.

Schultz went 3-1 in the 6 team round robin qualifying round. In their opening game, Schultz defeated Ann Podoll (Fargo, North Dakota) 7-6, losing their next game to Farrell 4-2, then respondied with a 6-1 win over Rhyme. Schultz won against Bear 7-4 in their final qualifying round match.
