Ageless Howard Leads Ontario Tankard Field

Penetanguishene's Glenn Howard faces John Epping of Toronto for a berth straight into Sunday's Final.

The Wizard of Winter, Sixty-year-old Glenn Howard, now old enough to play in the Masters' age bracket continues to defy father time with his most recent performance at the Ontario Tankard in Port Elgin this week.

Howard defeated Toronto's Mike McEwen 5-2 on Friday evening, stealing singles in the eighth and tenth ends to seal the win over the Winnipeg-based McEwen, the import player with Ryan Fry at third, Brent Laing at second and newly added Joey Hart throwing lead stones.

McEwen currently sits at 5-1 in the Championship Pool, with Epping also at 5-1. Mike Fournier, formerly of Quebec, is 4-2 and plays McEwen in their final qualifying round game.

Howard is joined by his son Scott Howard at third with David Mathers and Tim March on the front end and supported by Adam Spencer on the bench.

Howard plays John Epping at 2:30 pm ET and with a win will book their berth straight into Sunday's final. Second and Third place will play in the semifinal.
