Barker wins Regina Highland SWCT Event

Penny Barker (Moose Jaw, SK) wins the Regina Highland SWCT Event, defeating Sherry Anderson (Saskatoon, SK) 4-0 in Sunday's Final.

Barker with Christie Gamble at third, Jenna Enge and Danielle Sicinski on the front end, scored 2 in the first end, then added a steal in the second end, and another steal in the third end for the 4-0 lead.

Anderson conceded sometime after that, likely following another stolen end not marked on the board.

For Barker, their second event win in a row after taking down the title in Moose Jaw a month ago. The win moves Barker into the Top 20 on the World Curling Federation World Team Rankings.

In the semifinals, Barker defeated Regina's Jana Tisdale 8-7 and Anderson defeated Regina's Amber Holland 8-3. In the quarterfinals, Barker defeated Saskatoon's Nancy Martin 5-4, Anderson defeated Regina's Jessica Mitchell 6-4.

Barker finished 3-1 in the 18 team qualifying round,
In their opening game, Barker lost 6-5 to Mitchell, then responded with a 10-0 win over Callan Hamon (Regina, SK). Barker won 7-4 against Anderson, then won 10-8 against Amelie Blais (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
