By: Dylan Chenier Team Harty is just one win away from making the championship final at Alberta's men's provincial curling championships, after downing Edmonton's Karsten Sturmay 9-3 at Revolution Place on Friday morning. Friday's B-Side qualifier got underway with Harty's rink scoring a deuce in the first end after opening with the hammer. Sturmay would respond in the second with a single point. Harty started opening up a bit of an insurmountable lead in the third, making a massive score for four. Heading into the fourth end, Team Harty held an impressive 6-1 lead. In end number four, Team Sturmay was forced to a single for the second time in the game, trailing by four points heading into the fifth. Harty would then put up one in the fifth end, taking a 7-2 lead going into the break. Coming back in six, the team from Edmonton was once again forced to take a single point, trailing by four heading into the seventh end. Team Harty would further expand upon their lead in the seventh, picking up another single point. After the team from Calgary made a steal for one in the eighth, Team Sturmay would go on to concede in the ninth end, handing Harty the win 9-3. With their victory, Team Harty now moves on to face Kevin Koe's rink in the 1 vs 2, page-playoff game on Saturday morning. The matchup will be the second time the two rinks have faced each other at this week's tournament, with Koe taking the victory 8-4 during the A-Side semi-finals. The winner of the 1 vs 2 game will advance straight to Sunday night's championship final, while the loser moves to the semi-final on Saturday night. With their loss in the B-Side final, their second consecutive defeat of the tournament, Team Sturmay now drops to the C-Side, where they have one more chance to make the playoffs. On Friday night, Sturmay will face Team Jacques for a spot in the 3 vs 4, page-playoff game. The 2022 Alberta Boston Pizza Cup continues all week at Revolution Place in Grande Prairie, with all round-robin draws streaming live on Curling Alberta's YouTube page.
