Norway Wins Gothenburg Mixed Doubles Cup


Kristan Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten won the final tune-up ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympic Mixed Doubles competition.

Skaslien/Nedregotten won 8-3 over Sweden's Almida de Val and Oskar Eriksson in the final to win the Gothenburg Mixed Doubles Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Also headed to the Olympics, de Val/Eriksson started with hammer, scoring a single point. Skaslien/Nedregotten got two points in the second end, then added another pair in the fourth end and four points in the sixth end while the Swedes pocket only two single-point ends.

Both teams finished with a 6-1 record.

Also participating ahead of the Olympic games were Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat of Scotland, winning the Bronze medal in Gothenburg with a 7-3 win over Switzerland's Olympic team of Jenny Perret and Martin Rios.

In all, six of the teams competing in the Winter Olympics were competing in Gothenburg this week, with the Czech Republic's Zuzanna Paulova and Tomas Paul reaching the Quarterfinals. At the same time, Italy's Stefania Constantina and Amos Mosaner finished with a 2-2 record, just short of the playoffs.
