Positive test following competition in Ontario means Kim and Wayne Tuck (photo: Curling Canada) of Strathroy are out of Olympic Mixed Doubles Trials. The Canad Inns Mixed Doubles Trials are schedule to begin December 28th in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba with now 15 teams competing to represent Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. Unfortunately for the pair, a competition in Collingwood, Ontario where the Ontario Men's Cash Spiel qualifier took place has had a numer of reported cases. Wayne was competing for a berth in the Ontario Tankard. Kim also competes for the provincial Scotties as part of Danielle Inglis' Mississauga-based team.
Posting a 20-7 record on the season, the Tucks ranked 12th of the Canadian Mixed Doubles Ranking (CMDR), qualifying for the Trials through the two CMDR berths available announced in late November. A win in Quebec City at the Goldline DM Express for the Tuck was the top result for the pair, who became fan-favourites at the 2018 Mixed Doubles Trials for their matter of fact communication style. The Tuck reached the playoffs in all six events played this season. They were generously supported this season by Peter Inch Marv Schmitt from WOCRTC (Western Ontario Curling Resource and Training Center Ltd), Archie Manavian from Hardline, Roy Arndt from RCI Services, Ron Tyler of Century 21, Tom Leonard from Maple Leaf Ice and Fred and Sandy Veale of Canada Curling Stone Co. |
