SaskTel Powering Curling Stadium
![]() In a three-year agreement, SaskTel has become title sponsor of SaskTel Curling Stadium at Martensville. SaskTel Curling Stadium is a broadcast service that has high-definition (HD) cameras on every sheet, set up to bring full coverage from curling events played in the venue. Streams are available through CurlingZone's YouTube channel. SaskTel Curling Stadium by CurlingZone, debuted in Martensville, 15 kilometres north of Saskatoon. The facility is fully outfitted with broadcast capabilities on four sheets. Martensville is well-positioned as the closest curling facility to the Saskatoon airport, making it possible to attract world-class events and teams to the region. "SaskTel is proud of our commitment to sport, supporting many of the best curling events in the province," said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. "Our goal of connecting the people of Saskatchewan to the events they so passionately follow is achieved through SaskTel Curling Stadium's online broadcasts of the events." "It's an exciting day for curling," said CurlingZone President Gerry Geurts on the announcement. "SaskTel has long been a major supporter of curling in Saskatchewan and this agreement will help bring Saskatchewan curling to the rest of the world and bring opportunities to attract the world to our events." "With so many teams doing their own streaming, we're looking forward to being able to support all levels of the sport, from the elite professionals right down to Sask Tour, Mixed Doubles and Junior levels." This past weekend in Martensville, SaskTel Curling Stadium had coverage of every draw from the FNCIAS Aly Jenkins Mixed Doubles Memorial. Sweden's Isabella and Rasmus Wrana won the event defeating Lisa Weagle and John Epping 8-1 in the final. Epping and Weagle, as the top finishing Canadian finishers, earned a berth into the Canadian Olympic Mixed Doubles Trials. SaskTel Curling Stadium at Martensville will host several competitive events throughout the season with 12 weekends set aside for broadcast.
