Spencer with Katie Spencer at third, Holly Spencer and Allyson Spencer on the front end take home the $2,200CDN first place cheque along with 23.751 world ranking points, while Watling receives $1,600CDN and 17.417 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Spencer scored 1 in the first end. After 2 blank ends, Spencer stole 2 in the fourth end, added another steal of 2 in the fifth end. Spencer forced Watling to a single in the sixth end, holding on for the 5-1 win. In the semifinals, Spencer defeated Beth Peterson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 7-5 and Watling defeated Alyssa Calvert (Brandon, Manitoba) 7-1. Calvert and Peterson earned $1,200CDN and 13.459 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Spencer defeated Joelle Brown (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 10-8 in an extra end, Watling defeated Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 8-2, while Calvert defeated Tori Koana (Fujiyoshida, Japan) 6-5 in an extra end and Peterson defeated Laura Burtnyk (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 6-5 in an extra end. Koana, Brown, Burtnyk and Clark-Rouire earned $800CDN along with 9.500 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Spencer went 3-1 in the 15 team triple knockout qualifying round. In their opening game, Spencer lost 8-3 to Hailey Beaudry (Thunder Bay, Ontario), then responded with a 7-5 win over Tiffany McLean (Brandon, Manitoba). Spencer won against Katie Chappellaz (Brandon, Manitoba) 8-3, then won against Abby Ackland (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 6-2 in the B-Qualifier game to advance to the playoffs. |
