Sturmay with Tristan Steinke at third, Jason Ginter and Glenn Venance on the front end take home the $3,400CDN first place cheque along with 23.903 world ranking points, while Usselman receives $2,400CDN and 17.529 world ranking points for their second place finish. Sturmay opened the scoring stealing 1 in the first end. After a blank end, Usselman scored a single the third end, then forced Sturmay to a single in the fourth end. Sturmay added a steal in the fifth end, then forced Usselman to a single in the sixth end to lead 3-2. After a blank end, Sturmay scored a single the eighth end for clinch the 4-2 win. In the semifinals, Sturmay defeated Danny Sherrard (Edmonton, Alberta) 7-4 and Usselman defeated SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, Korea) 6-3. Sherrard and Kim earned $1,400CDN and 13.545 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Sturmay defeated Shane Park (Edmonton, Alberta) 6-3, Usselman defeated Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, Alberta) 6-0, while Kim defeated Ted Appelman (Edmonton, Alberta) 6-2 and Sherrard defeated Kevin Park (Edmonton, Alberta) 6-5. Sluchinski, Park, Appelman and Park earned $850CDN along with 9.561 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Sturmay went 4-0 in the 25 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Kevin Tym (Edmonton, Alberta) 6-2, then won against Shane Park 8-1, against Scott Webb (Peace River, Alberta) 7-5, and 7-5 against Ryan Jacques (Edmonton, Alberta) 7-5 in their final qualifying round match. |
