Darcy Robertson wins Colonial Square Ladies Classic
![]() Darcy Robertson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) wins the Colonial Square Ladies Classic, defeating Sayaka Yoshimura (Sapporo, Japan) 5-2 at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, Canada. Robertson with Karen Klein at third, Vanessa Foster and Theresa Cannon on the front end take home the $7,500CDN first place cheque along with 43.013 world ranking points, while Yoshimura receives $4,500CDN and 31.543 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Robertson blanked the first 2 ends, then got on the board scoring 1 in the third end. Robertson forced Yoshimura to a single in the fourth end, then scored 2 in the fifth end to take a 3-1 lead. Another force as Yoshimura was held to a single in the sixth end with Robertson scoring 2 in the seventh end for the three point lead into the final end. Robertson held on, running Yoshimura out of stones for the 5-2 win. In the semifinals, Robertson defeated Ashley Howard (Regina, Saskatchewan) 8-7 in an extra end and Yoshimura defeated Kristen Streifel (Regina, Saskatchewan) 6-5 in an extra end. Howard and Streifel earned $3,250CDN and 24.374 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Robertson defeated Amber Holland (Regina, Saskatchewan) 5-1, Yoshimura defeated Sherry Anderson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) 5-4 in an extra end, while Streifel defeated Allison Flaxey (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 6-5 in an extra end and Howard defeated Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 8-1. Anderson, Holland, Jones earned $2,000CDN along with 17.205 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Robertson went 3-0 in the 18 team Triple Knockout qualifying round. In their opening game, Robertson defeated Brett Barber (Biggar, Saskatchewan) 9-4, then won against Holland 7-2, advancing to the A Qualfier where they won against Flaxey 8-0 to reach the playoff round. |
