Hannah Fleming wins City of Perth Ladies International
![]() Hannah Fleming (Lockerbie, Scotland) wins the CCT City of Perth Ladies International, defeating Isabella Wrana (Sundbyberg, Sweden) 8-3 at Perth Dewars Center in Perth, Scotland. Fleming with Jennifer Dodds at third, Alice Spence and Vicky Wright on the front end take home the $7,184CDN first place cheque along with 28.229 world ranking points, while Wrana receives $3,592CDN and 22.180 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Fleming scored 1 in the first end, then forced Wrana to a single in the second end. After a blank end, Fleming scored 2 in the fourth end, then added a steal in the fifth end to extend the lead to 4-1. After Wrana scored 2 in the sixth end, Fleming responded in the seventh end scoring 2. then added a steal of 2 in the eighth end for the 8-3 win. In the semifinals, Fleming defeated Eve Muirhead (Perth, Scotland) 4-3 and Wrana defeated Ayumi Ogasawara (Sapporo, Japan) 5-4. Muirhead and Ogasawara earned $1,796CDN and 17.139 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Fleming defeated Sophie Jackson (Dumfries, Scotland) 7-4, Wrana defeated Ursi Hegner (Uzwil, Switzerland) 6-3, while Muirhead defeated Tova Sundberg (Ostersund, Sweden) 9-3 and Ogasawara defeated Jackie Lockhart (Edinburgh, Scotland) 8-6. Hegner, Jackson, Sundberg and Lockhart earned $808CDN along with 12.098 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes. Fleming went 5-0 in the 16 team round-robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Fleming defeated Sundberg 6-3, won 7-6 against Lockhart, then won against Susan Kesley (Perth, Scotland) 7-1, and Gail Thomson (Perth, SCO) 7-1, then winning against Daniela Jentsch (Fuessen, Germany) 7-3 in their final qualifying round match. |
