CurlingZone: McEwen Wins Twice in Martensville

Saskatoon's Mike McEwen (photo: Anil Mungal, GSOC) won 6-2 over Winnipeg's Jordon McDonald in a tuneup for upcoming Montana's Brier.

McEwen, with Colton Flash, twins Kevin and Daniel March controlled scored a single and stole two more in the second end against a short-handed McDonald team, with Jordon away and Jacques Gauthier at the helm.

The teams traded deuces in the third and fourth ends with McDonald getting two more points in the seventh end. McDonald was unable to force McEwen to throw their last shot, handing the Brier pre-qualifier the 6-4 win.

McEwen won 8-6 over Swift Current's Shaun Meachem in the opening draw, scoring three in the eighth end for the comeback victory.

McEwen returns to the ice on Saturday at 2pm Saskatchewan / Central Time, facing Caden Hebert of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
