By: Cameron Sallaj It was a shooting clinic Saturday afternoon for Yannick Schwaller's Swiss squad as they put up their best performance of the 2026 Milano Cortina Games thus far to take down Canada's Brad Jacobs. With the back end of Schwaller and fourth Benoit Schwarz-van Berkel at an unmatched 96 and 97 per cent respectively, the Swiss team took control of the game by converting with hammer in all four attempts. Canada, meanwhile, only managed a deuce once in the game, trailing 8-5 after eight ends of play. Switzerland scored one in the ninth end to end the game with a final score of 9-5. Swiss lead Pablo Lachat-Couchepin also had a strong game at 96 percent while second Sven Michel was the lowest on the team at 79. Still, Michel made several key shots for the Swiss team to clean up the middle and generate each of Switzerland's two-point ends. Team Schwaller comes into the 2026 Olympics on a high after winning their first Grand Slam event in December and reaching the semifinals of another in January. Currently ranked second in the world, the team is looking to take that next jump and become Olympic champions. As the only undefeated team left in the event, Switzerland is just a pair of wins away from clinching a spot in the playoffs. They will look to do so in their next game as they take on world number one ranked Great Britain's Bruce Mouat in a rematch of last year's World Championship final. They will then meet Sweden and Germany on Tuesday before closing out against Norway and hosts Italy. For Canada's Team Brad Jacobs, this is their first loss of the tournament as they now sit second in the standings at 3-1. The Canadian side will have a bye in the next draw before gearing up against China's Xu Xiaoming Sunday night. Still on the docket for Canada after that is Czechia, Great Britain, Italy and Norway.
