By: Cameron Sallaj After being one of two teams idle in Wednesday's opening draw, Norway's Magnus Ramsfjell rink dropped a tight opening game on Thursday against Marc Muskatewitz of Germany. Trying to avoid slipping to 0-2, the team played China's Xu Xiaoming in their second game of the event. It was not the ideal start for the team consisting of skip Ramsfjell, Martin Sesaker, Bendik Ramsfjell and Gaute Nepstad as they gave up a steal of two in the second end to go down 2-0. This did not faze the Norwegians, however, as they converted their next two hammers while forcing China to one in the fourth, putting them in the lead 4-3 at the break. Through the second half, neither team was able to generate any offense with hammer, both only managing single points. In ten, trailing by one, China's skip Xu Xiaoming made a tap-back to count one and send the game into an extra end where Norway would hold the hammer. With a double peel from Sesaker on his last rock, all Ramsfjell needed was an open hit to score two and win the game 8-6, scoring Norway their first win of the men's competition. It's been a fairly consistent season for the Norwegian team that currently ranks 16th on the world rankings, qualifying in six of ten events and winning the HearingLife Canadian Open Tier 2 in December. Though, they also had a rather disappointing showing at the European Championships, finishing in eighth with a 2-7 record. Still, the team has proven they can compete with any of the top teams and won't be intimidated by anyone this week in Cortina. Having evened their record to 0.500, Norway will look to continue this momentum into their next game against Czechia's Lukas Klima Friday at 1 PM ET.
