Following a heartbreaking extra end loss to Canada's Brad Jacobs in the opening draw, Marc Muskatewitz and his German squad of Benjamin Kapp, Felix Messenzehl and Johannes Scheuerl looked to get back on track in game 2 as they took on Norway's Magnus Ramsfjell.

It was a strong opening half to the game for the Germans who, despite giving up a steal in the second end, executed an angle runback in the third to grab three points. They then forced Norway to one in the fifth after a blank in four, taking a 3-2 lead into the final five.

The rest of the game saw great defense from the team without hammer as neither team was able to generate a deuce with last rock advantage. Germany got one point in the sixth and Norway followed it up with one of their own in eight. After Germany scored another single in nine to lead by two coming home, Ramsfjell was unable to connect on his final in-off attempt for two, only counting one and giving Germany the 5-4 win.

It is a first Olympic Games appearance for the entire German squad who rose to prominence during the 2024-25 season by winning the European Championship, defeating Bruce Mouat in the final. They also became Grand Slam of Curling mainstays across the past two seasons with their results at the 2024 and 2025 World Championships being enough to earn them a direct berth into Milano Cortina.

Now 1-1, the German side sits tied for fifth in the standings alongside the United States. Their next opponent will be the host Italians and Team Joel Retornaz on Friday at 1 pm ET.
