 Newfoundland and Labrador's Brad Gushue (Photo: Curling Canada) is set to begin his final run at the Canadian Olympic Trials this week in Halifax, Nova Scotia. By Connor Simms, Brad Gushue, with Mark Nichols at third, Brendan Bottcher and Geoff Walker on the front end, is dreaming of one more big run before this team parts ways. Brad and Mark are returning to Halifax for the Olympic Trials once again and ending their amazing run as a duo, where it all began in Halifax in 2005, when they won their first Olympic Trials, ultimately winning the 2006 Olympics. Although this version of Team Gushue has not had the results they wanted so far this season, it is without question that to should never be counted out when it comes to major curling events. Brad holds two Olympic Trials wins and six Brier titles. Brad, Mark, and Geoff are the defending champions at the trials, having won in 2021 in Saskatoon. They then went on to get the Bronze Medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. The format for this year's trials is an 8-team round robin. At the conclusion of the round robin, the top team will advance to the finals, while the 2nd and 3rd seeds will play in the semi-final. From there, the top seed will face the winner of the semi-final in a best-of-three final. Gushue will open their round robin on Saturday at 7:00 pm Atlantic Time (AT) versus Saskatchewan's Rylan Kleiter. On Sunday, they will face Alberta's Kevin Koe at 2:00 pm AT. They will have a two-game day on Monday with games against Northern Ontario's John Epping at 9:00 am AT and Manitoba's Matt Dunstone at 7:00 pm AT. On Tuesday, they will face Manitoba's Jordon McDonald at 2:00 pm AT. They will then wrap up the round robin on Wednesday with games against Saskatchewan's Mike McEwen at 9:00 AT and Alberta's Brad Jacobs at 7:00 pm AT.
