AMJ Masters Final: Tirinzoni vs Homan
![]() Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni is set to take on Ontario's Rachel Homan in the final of the AMJ Masters in London, Ontario. By Connor Simms, #2 World-Ranked Silvana Tirinzoni as skip, throwing third stones with Alina Paetz throwing the last stones, and Carole Howald and Selina Witschonke on the front end, remain undefeated at the Masters. Tirinzoni went 4-0 in the round robin. In their opening game, they defeated China's Rui Wang 5-4. They then defeated Momoha Tabata 7-3 and Satsuki Fujisawa 8-3. They wrapped up the round robin with a win over Sayaka Yoshimura, 5-4. In the quarter-final, Tirinzoni defeated Switzerland's Xenia Schwaller 5-4 in an extra end. This set up a match with Korea's Eun Ji Gim in the semi-final. After a blank in the first end, Tirinzoni opened the scoring with two points. Gim immediately responded with two of their own. Both teams then traded singles to tie the game at 3. After a blank in the sixth end, Tirinzoni took control with a deuce in the seventh. Tirinzoni then stole one more in the eighth to win 6-3. Rachel Homan with Tracy Fleury at third, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes on the front end, continue to prove why they are ranked #1. Homan went 4-0 in the round robin. In their opening game, they defeated Alberta's Kayla Skrlik 7-4. Homan then defeated Sweden's Iasbella Wrana 6-5 and Sayaka Yoshimura 7-3. Homan wrapped up the round robin with an 8-7 win over Rui Wang. In the quarter-finals, Homan defeated Japan's Momoha Tabata 6-4 in an extra end. This set up a match with Sweden's Isabella Wrana in the semi-final. In the first end, Homan opened the scoring with two points, then followed it up with a steal of one in the second. Wrana responded with two points of their own. Homan was forced to their single in the fourth end. Wrana then added two in the fifth to tie the game at 4. Homan was then forced to their single in the sixth. Wrana then got their single point in the seventh to tie the game at 5. Homan then added two more in the eighth end to grab the 7-5 victory. This set up an all-time classic matchup between Homan and Tirinzoni in the final. These teams faced off six times last season, with Homan taking the season series 5-1. Including key wins over Tirinzoni at the World Women's Curling Championships. Tirinzoni defeated Homan at the AMJ Players' Championship final in their last meeting. Homan holds an all-time 29-10 record versus Tirinzoni. Tirinzoni will be chasing her first career Masters title as a skip, while Homan is looking for her fifth Masters title. Tirinzoni will start the game with the hammer, finishing the round robin with a perfect twelve points. Homan finished the round robin with ten points.
