By Connor Simms, #10 World-Ranked John Epping with Jake Horgan at third, Tanner Horgan and Ian McMillan on the front end, remain perfect with playoff appearances through two events thus far. Last week, at the Trentino World Cup in Trentino, Italy, Epping went 3-1 through the round robin, ultimately losing the semifinals to Switzerland's Yannick Schwaller (#2), who went on to win the event. They took on Minnesota's Korey Dropkin in the A-side qualifying game. Epping won the opening draw to the button for the hammer. Epping was forced to their single in the first end. Dropkin was the first to find their deuce in the second end. After a blank in the third, Dropkin stole a single point in the fourth. Epping finally found multiple, adding three in the fifth end. Dropking was forced to their single point in the sixth. Epping got another deuce in the seventh end. Dropkin was only able to get one point in the eighth to hand Epping the 6-5 victory. In their opening game, they defeated Quebec's Pierre-Luc Morrisette 12-1. They then defeated Ontario's Sam Mooibroek 8-3 to advance to the A-qualifier game. In the other A-qualifier game, Scotland's Ross Whyte defeated Sweden's Niklas Edin 6-3. On the women's side, Scotland's Rebecca Morrison defeated Japan's Momoha Tabata 7-1, Korea's Seungyoun Ha defeated Denmark's Madeline Dupont 4-2, and Switzerland's Xenia Schwaller defeated Sweden's Isabella Wrana 6-2 to advance to the playoffs. Epping's next game will be on Monday at 8:45 am Eastern Time (ET) against an opponent to be determined. Qualifier games will continue through Sunday, with the playoffs happening on Monday.
