By Connor Simms, #14 World-Ranked Kayla Skrlik, with Margot Flemming at third, Ashton Skrlik and Geri-Lynn Ramsay on the front end, will begin their second event of the season at the Saville Shootout. Skrlik returns to the curling scene after an impressive 2024-2025 season. Starting last season at #25, Skrlik climbed all the way to #13. Some of their top events include a fourth-place finish at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, a second-place finish at the Pointbet Invitational, and three event wins. To add to last season's results, Skrlik grabbed a spot in the Canadian Olympic Trials, as well as a pre-qualified spot in the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Mississauga, Ontario. Skrlik kicked off their season last weekend in Morris, Manitoba, at the Asham Icebreaker Challenge. They went 2-2 through a round robin, failing to make the playoffs. They kick off the Saville Shootout on Friday with games against Alberta's Gracelyn Richards at 12:15 pm Mountain Time (MT) and Alberta's Nancy Hansen at 8:45 pm MT. The round-robin wraps up on Saturday with games against British Columbia's Taylor Reese-Hansen at 8:00 am MT and Manitoba's Kaitlyn Lawes at 8:45 pm MT. Later this September, Skrlik will play in their second career Grand Slam Tier 1 event in London, Ontario, at the AMJ Masters. Last season, they debuted at the WFG Masters, where they went 1-3.
