They took on Chaska's Daniel Casper in the final at the Trentino World Cup. Schwaller started with the hammer due to their perfect round robin record. After a blank in the first end, Schwaller opened the scoring with three points. Casper responded with three of their own, making a light-weight runback around a guard. Schwarz van Berkal made a beautiful angle slash to sit one with one more to come, but was unable to draw the eight-foot for their second point, settling for their single. In the fifth end, Casper failed to make a lightweight nose tap, giving up a steal of two. Casper tried hard for their deuce but was unable to make an inoff triple, giving up another steal of one. Finding some light, Casper was able to find three points in the seventh, drawing to the paint. Casper was unable to sit one for Schwaller's last, resulting in the 7-6 victory for the team from Switzerland. Schwaller went a perfect 6-0 in this event. In their opening game, Schwaller defeated Japan's Shinya Abe 10-3, then won 8-3 against Saskatchewan's Rylan Kleiter and 7-6 against Switzerland's Michael Brunner. Schwaller won 9-4 against Italy's Joel Retornaz in their final qualifying round match. In their semi-final matchup, they defeated Northern Ontario's John Epping 8-4.
