By: Cameron Sallaj The round robin portion of the 2025 LGT World Women's Curling Championship has come to a close with the playoff matches now decided. At the top of the table and taking the number one seed into the knockout round is Silvana Tirinzoni and her Swiss squad of Alina Patz, Carole Howald and Selina Witschonke. The Swiss quartet dominated the round robin with a near perfect 11-1 record, losing only one game against Canada's Rachel Homan in an extra end. This team is looking to get back on top of the podium after a silver medal finish last year snapped their four consecutive world title streak. Second in the round robin was the host Korean side of Gim Eun-ji, Kim Min-ji, Kim Su-ji and Seol Ye-eun. The Uijeongbu based team went 10-2 in their twelve games and took second over Canada thanks to a head-to-head victory. Both Switzerland and Korea will advance directly to the semifinal stage, bypassing the qualification round as the top two seeds while the other four teams will play a sudden death qualifier Saturday morning. The rest of the playoff field is rounded out by Canada, Sweden and China and Scotland. The Canadian squad of Rachel Homan, Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes took the third seed in the playoff round, tying Korea with a 10-2 record. Though, because Korea defeated them 11-7 in the round robin, they are forced to play in the qualification round. Team Homan is trying to defend their world championship title from last year in Sydney and will be big threats heading into championship weekend. Sweden's Anna Hasselborg took the fourth playoff seed (9-3) while China's Wang Rui (7-5) and Scotland's Sophie Jackson (7-5) finished fifth and sixth respectively.
