For the first time in championship history, a team has defended their title at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.

2024 champions Kadriana and Colton Lott are back on top in Canada after a disappointing Olympic Trials saw them finish just outside of the playoff picture. After a 6-1 round robin record, the team won both their qualification round and quarterfinal matches to advance to Friday mornings semifinal round.

Facing top seeds and previously undefeated Kira Brunton and Jacob Horgan of Northern Ontario, the Manitoba duo never found themselves in the lead until the very end of the game. After giving up two in the first end, they leveled the score with singles in the second and third.

Singles were traded through four and five with the score remaining tied. Brunton/Horgan then pulled ahead with one in the sixth and a steal of one in seven to lead 5-3 coming home.

In trouble in eight, Colton Lott made a perfect runback to leave the Lott's lying the three they needed for the win. Keeping the game alive, Kira Brunton made a stellar hit-and-roll to the button to sit one behind the center guard. With a small hole to come through to score three, Kadriana Lott made a perfect bump through the port to lift the Manitoba team to a 6-5 win, advancing them to the gold medal game.

Going against Marlee Powers and Luke Saunders of Nova Scotia, the Lott's had much more control of the gold medal final, never trailing at any point in the match. After scoring three in the first end, they led the game until the sixth end where Powers/Saunders scored two to tie the score.

In seven, Lott/Lott scored two points to put themselves back ahead, though the Nova Scotia pair would do the same in eight, sending the game to an extra end. There, Colton Lott made a game winning tap-back on his final shot of the end which Marlee Powers could not remove, securing a 9-8 win for the Gimli based couple.

With the win, Kadriana and Colton will now represent Canada at next year's World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with the location TBA. They also secure a spot in next years Canadian Doubles Championship along with Powers/Saunders and semifinalists Brunton/Horgan and Melissa Adams and Alex Robichaud.

Kadriana and Colton Lott (Gimli, MB) finished 6-1 through the qualifying round of the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. In their opening game, the team won 11-2 over Veronique Bouchard and Jean-Francois Charest (Chicoutimi, QC) and then defeated Marlee Powers and Luke Saunders (Halifax, NS) 7-3. After picking up a 7-4 win over Emilia Gagne and Pierre-Luc Morissette (Quebec City, QC), the team won 12-3 over Nicole Westlund-Stewart and Tyler Stewart (Thunder Bay, ON) and 11-3 against CJ Jackson and Matt McCrady (New Westminster, BC). On the final day of the round robin, they beat Paige Papley and Evan van Amsterdam (Edmonton, AB) 8-2 before suffering their only loss to Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing (Barrie, ON) 6-4.

Entering the playoffs as the fifth seed, Lott/Lott won 10-4 against Papley/van Amsterdam in the qualification round and then beat Nancy Martin and Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) 9-4 to advance to the semifinals.
