Brown First to Deliver 4 Wins

British Columbia's Corryn Brown won 10-3 over Nunavut to improve to 4-1 at the Scotties in Thunder Bay.

Brown and her team of Erin Pincott, Sarah Koltun and Samantha Fisher continue their push towards the playoffs with a strong start to the week.

Brown scored a single to open against Nunavut's Julia Weagle, adding a steal of two in the second end.

After Weagle scored two in the third end, Brown broke open the game with a single point in the fourth end, adding steals of two and three en route to the victory.

The victory improved Brown's record to 40-26 on the season.

Brown's lone event win on the season came at the BC Championships in Langley, with a runner-up finish at the Crestwood Platinum Anniversary Showdown in Edmonton, their best showing on the tour season.

Brown also reached the semifinals at the Curling Stadium Martensville International, adding three quarterfinal finishes in their ten tour events played this season.

Brown opened the week splitting games against the Alberta teams, winning 11-4 over Edmonton's Selena Sturmay, while dropping a 9-8 decision to Calgary's Kayla Skrlik.

Brown won 7-6 over Saskatoon's Nancy Martin on Sunday, then won 9-3 over Thunder Bay's Krista McCarville on Monday morning.

Brown gets the bye in Pool A's next draw, meaning the team is idle on Tuesday.

Brown faces a big test in their next game on Wednesday morning, taking on the undefeated Rachel Homan of Ottawa, who is wearing the Team Canada colours this week as the reigning champion.
