By Connor Simms, Rachel Homan, with Tracy Fleury at third, Emma Miskew, and Sarah Wilkes on the front end, will be heavy favourites in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Maple Leafs will be on their jerseys as the defending champions. Homan has an impressive record of only four losses, and five event wins on the season, winning events like the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic, Pointsbet Invitational, Pan-Continental Championships, Co-op Canadian Open, and the Kioti National. In the lone two events that they have lost, it came to the final, where they lost to fellow Scotties competitor Manitoba's Kerri Einarson and Sweden's Anna Hasselborg. Homan and Miskew will look to add their fifth Scotties Tournament of Hearts title, winning all five together. Wilkes will look to add her third, winning in 2019 against Homan with the former Chelsea Carey team. Fleury will look to add her second Scotties Tournament of Hearts title, with her first coming last season. Prior to the event, Homan made a statement about bringing in six-time Scotties champion Jennifer Jones as their coach for the week. As the team stated, "We're excited to have Jennifer Jones join us as coach at the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts!" "Jen has been consulting with us at recent events, and we're grateful she could fit us into her busy calendar. Due to prior commitments, she will join us later in the event until the end of our schedule. Rachelle Brow will be with the team for the entire tournament." Brown has been with the Homan team as their fifth for the whole season, also winning gold with the team at last season's Scotties Tournament of Hearts. "Jen's leadership and experience are invaluable; we're lucky to have her on the bench with us. Plus, we hear her daughter Bella is thrilled to have a Scotties team to cheer for!" Jones retired after last season, where she lost the Scotties final to Homan. Homan opens the Scotties Tournament of Hearts with Prince Edward Island's Jane DiCarlo on Friday at 7:00 pm Eastern Time (ET). A battle of Ontario will be held on Saturday at 7:00 pm ET with Northern Ontario and hometown team Krista McCarville. She will face Alberta's Kayla Skrlik on Sunday at 2:00 pm ET. On Monday, she plays Saskatchewan's Nancy Martin at 7:00 pm ET. Tuesday, she plays New Brunswick's Mellisa Adams at 2:00 pm ET. Wednesday is their lone two-game day, starting with British Columbia's Corryn Brown at 9:00 am ET and Nunavut's Julia Weagle at 7:00 pm ET. They wrap up round-robin play on Thursday with Alberta's Selena Sturmay at 2:00 pm ET. The playoffs will continue throughout the weekend, with the top three teams moving on in each pool. From there, the one-seeds will play the two-seeds for a spot in the 1-2 page playoff game. The losers of those games will play the three seeds for a spot in the 3-4 page playoff game.
