Calgary's Kevin Koe won 8-7 over Marco Hoesli to advance to Astec Safety Challenge C-Qialifer game. Hoesli, throws third stones with brother Philip throwing last stones with front end Simon Gloor and Justin Hausherr scored two in the third end, then stole a point of their own to trail 4-3 at the game's halfway point. Hoesli evened the score after six ends, forcing Koe to a single in the fifth end, then scoring two points, to turn the game into a two-end shootout. Having dropped behind by four early, this had the momentum on the Swiss side, though Koe scored two in the seventh end to push the game back in their favour. After holding Hoesli to two points in the eighth end and sending the game to an extra end, Koe prevailed with a single point score for victory.
