Birt 2-0 at Bogside Cup Home Spiel
Suzanne Birt (Photo: Jon Clarke) of Summerside, PEI rarely gets a Tour Spiel at home. For Birt, and her team of Marie Christianson, Meaghan Hughes and Michelle McQuaid won 5-4 over Marlee Powers of Halifax on Friday evening to sit at the top of the standings. Birt, who defeated Lynn-Anne Brosseau of Montague 9-1 in the afternoon draw, will face Tanya Hilliard of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on Saturday at 11 am AT, then will take on Kristen MacDiarmid of Halifax on Saturday at 5 pm. The Bogside Cup, supported by Bogside Brewing of Montague is the brainchild of Ryan Giddens, husband of Hughes. Giddens worked to bring an event back to Prince Edward Island and was able to attract 11 teams to the first year event with teams from all three Maritime provinces.
