In their opening game, Grassie lost 5-4 to Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS), then responded with a 6-4 win over Scott Williamson (Whitehorse, YK). Grassie won 7-6 against Jessie Hunkin (Crestwood, AB). Grassie went on to lose 4-3 against Comeau. Grassie responded with a 8-4 win over Miles Craig (Victoria, BC). Grassie won 8-4 against Eddie MacKenzie (Cornwall, PEI), then won 9-2 against Rod Feltham (Gander, NL) and 6-5 against Yannick Martel (Chicoutimi, QC). Grassie went on to lose 9-3 against Sam Mooibroek (Waterloo, ON). Grassie lost 7-6 to Ackerman in their final qualifying round match.
