To advance to the championship game, Kim won 8-6 over Hyojun Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the semifinals of the Korean National Curling Championship in Gangneung, Korea;
Kim finished 7-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated Jinhan Yoo (Chungham, KOR) 1-0, then went on to lose 8-7 against Lee. Kim responded with a 10-4 win over Kim. Kim won 8-6 against Daehyeon Kim (Daegu, KOR), then won 6-4 against Jongduk Park (Gangwon, KOR) and 8-5 against Hakjun Kim (Gangneung, KOR). Kim won 8-2 against Woojung Lee (Uiseong, KOR), then won 12-2 against GunWoo Park (Uijeongbu, KOR) in their final qualifying round match.
