CHAMPION: Thiesse/Dropkin Wins Victoria Mixed Doubles Cash Spiel

Cory Thiesse/Korey Dropkin (Duluth, MN) won 11-4 over Courtney Woo/Daniel Wenzek (Langley, BC) in the Final of the Victoria Mixed Doubles Cash Spiel, held September 19 - 21 at the Victoria Curling Club in Victoria, Canada. Advancing directly to the semifinals, Thiesse/Dropkin won 7-4 over Paige Papley/Evan Van Amsterdam (Edmonton, AB) to advance to the championship game. of the Victoria Mixed Doubles Cash Spiel in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;

Thiesse/Dropkin finished 5-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thiesse/Dropkin defeated Nicole Montgomery/Kevin Maxwell (Victoria, BC) 9-0, then won 6-1 against Cloe Hidber/Graham Lee (Victoria, BC) and 16-3 against Natasha Cummings/Nicholas Hoffard (Abbotsford, BC). Thiesse/Dropkin won 6-3 against Katelyn McGillivray/Troy Cowan (Victoria, BC), then won 7-2 against Mahra Harris/Corey Chester (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Victoria Mixed Doubles Cash Spiel Championship title, Thiesse/Dropkin earned 12.750 world rankings points along with the $2,100CDN first prize cheque. For week 9 of the event schedule, Thiesse/Dropkin did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Thiesse/Dropkin ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
