Kaitlyn Lawes (Winnipeg, MB) finished 4-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lawes defeated Corryn Brown (Kamloops, BC) 7-4, then won 8-7 against Selena Sturmay (Edmonton, AB). Lawes went on to lose 7-3 against Christina Black (Halifax, NS). Lawes lost 6-4 to Kerri Einarson (Gimli, MB) where Lawes responded with a 5-3 win over Kate Cameron (St. Adolphe, MB). Lawes went on to lose 8-7 against Rachel Homan (Ottawa, ON). Lawes responded with a 9-6 win over Kayla Skrlik (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Lawes earned 14.550 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 19th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 10.425 after improving upon their best so far this season. Lawes ranks 22nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 104.700 points earned so far this season.
