Nikolov lost 7-1 to Josh Bryden (Regina, CAN) where Nikolov responded with a 6-3 win over Tianyu Meng (Harbin, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Nikolov earned 1.688 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 20 spots the World Ranking Standings into 192nd place overall with 6.469 total points. Nikolov ranks 186th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.438 points earned so far this season.
