Loris Caccivio (Basel, SUI) finished 2-3 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Caccivio lost 6-1 to Fredrik Nyman (Solleftea, SWE), then responded with a 5-4 win over Sergio Vez (San Sebastian, ESP). Caccivio lost 8-4 to Gian Wildhaber (Aarau, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
