Ryutaro Tani (Tokyo, JPN) finished 1-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tani lost 9-4 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN), droppimg another game, 6-3 to Natsu Kikuchi (Hokkaido, JPN) where Tani responded with a 7-6 win over Takumi Maeda (Tokoro, JPN). Tani went on to lose 7-6 against Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Tani earned 1.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 28 of the event schedule, Tani did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Tani ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
