Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) won 8-3 over Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN) in the Final of the ADVICS Cup, held August 22 - 25 at the Tokoro Curling Club in Kitami, Japan. Abe finished 3-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abe defeated Takumi Maeda (Tokoro, JPN) 7-4, then won 7-0 against Japan's Kotaro Noguchi and 7-4 against Japan's Ryo Aoki in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the ADVICS Cup Championship title, Abe earned 18.750 world rankings points along with the $9,336CDN first prize cheque. For week 4 of the event schedule, Abe did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Abe ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
