Mike McEwen (Saskatoon, SK) won 5-2 over John Shuster (Duluth, MN) in the Final of the ATB Okotoks Classic, held September 19 - 22, 2024 at the Okotoks Curling Club in Okotoks, Canada. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 4-2 over Michael Brunner (Bern, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2024 ATB Okotoks Classic in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada; and won 6-5 over Takumi Maeda (Tokoro, JPN) in the quarterfinals.
McEwen finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Elliott Mansell (Denver, CO) 6-2, then won 7-3 against Maeda and 5-4 against Brunner in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the ATB Okotoks Classic Championship title, McEwen earned 41.250 world rankings points along with the $14,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 8 of the event schedule, McEwen did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. McEwen ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
