Joel Retornaz (Cembra, ITA) finished 6-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Retornaz defeated Rob Retchless (Preston , ENG) 8-3, then won 8-7 against Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE). Retornaz went on to lose 7-3 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad , SWE). Retornaz responded with a 6-4 win over Mathias Genner (Kitzbuehel, AUT). Retornaz won 11-6 against Wouter Gosgens (Zoetermeer, NED), then won 10-7 against Bruce Mouat (Stirling, SCO). Retornaz went on to lose 10-7 against Magnus Ramsfjell (Trondheim, NOR). Retornaz responded with a 8-5 win over Marc Muskatewitz (Fuessen, GER). Retornaz went on to lose 7-4 against Yannick Schwaller (Geneve, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.

Retornaz earned 21.375 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 17 of the event schedule, Retornaz did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Retornaz ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
