Retornaz responded with a 8-5 win over Marc Muskatewitz (Fuessen, GER). Retornaz went on to lose 7-4 against Yannick Schwaller (Geneve, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
Retornaz earned 21.375 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
