In their opening game, McDonald defeated Adam Fenton (New Westminster, BC) 10-5, then won 9-5 against Matthew Drewitz (Saskatoon, SK) and 12-2 against Adam Bedard (Noranda, QC). McDonald won 7-5 against Jamie Stewart (Fredericton, NB), then won 11-3 against Tyler MacTavish (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) and 9-3 against Nick Mosher (Halifax, NS). McDonald won 6-4 against Parker Tipple (St. John's, NL). McDonald went on to lose 8-7 against Dylan Derksen (Martensville, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
McDonald earned 3.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the New Holland Canadian Junior Championships . For week 36 of the event schedule, McDonald did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 51st place on the World Ranking Standings with 66.063 total points.
