Kaitlyn Lawes (Winnipeg, MB) needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, Lawes finished 2-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lawes lost 7-3 to Stefania Constantini (Cortina d'Ampezzo, ITA), then responded with a 6-4 win over Ikue Kitazawa (Nagano, JPN).
