Hopson/Tippett went on to lose 9-8 against Katie Ford/Oliver Campbell (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON). Hopson/Tippett responded with a 7-6 win over Mackenzie Kiemele/Graham Singer (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Hopson/Tippett earned 1.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
