Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) finished 4-3 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Morozumi defeated ByeongJin Jeong (Seoul, KOR) 6-3, then went on to lose 6-5 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB). Morozumi responded with a 7-4 win over Andrew Symonds (St. John's, NL). Morozumi won 7-2 against Brad Jacobs (Edmonton, AB). Morozumi went on to lose 8-5 against Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE). Morozumi responded with a 7-4 win over Alex Champ (Toronto, ON) to advance to a C-Qualifier game where they lost 7-6 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.

Morozumi earned 10.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 12 of the event schedule, Morozumi did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Morozumi ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
