Sam Mooibroek (Whitby, ON) finished 1-3 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mooibroek lost 9-2 to Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE), droppimg another game, 5-4 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) where Mooibroek responded with a 7-4 win over ByeongJin Jeong (Seoul, KOR). Mooibroek went on to lose 6-5 against Scott Howard (Navan, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Mooibroek earned 2.625 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 12 of the event schedule, Mooibroek did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Mooibroek ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
