Abe finished 7-0 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abe defeated Kouhei Sato (Tohoku, JPN) 8-2, then won 10-2 against Kounosuke Takahashi (Nagano, JPN) and 8-1 against Yanagisawa. Abe won 9-3 against Japan's Ryutaro Tani, then won 6-5 against Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) and 11-10 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Abe won 9-5 against Takumi Maeda (Kitami, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the ZEH-NOH Japan Curling Championship Championship title, Abe earned 30.000 world rankings points. Abe move up 21 spots after posting a net gain of 15.906 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 47th overall with 66.563 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
