Emira Abbes (Fuessen, GER) won 5-0 over Isabelle Einspieler (St. Gallen, SUI) in the Final of the St. Galler Elite Challenge, held January 18 - 21, 2024 in St. Gallen, Switzerland. To advance to the championship game, Abbes won 5-1 over Sara Messenzehl (Fuessen, GER) in the semifinals
Abbes finished 4-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abbes defeated Messenzehl 8-6, then won 11-3 against Elodie Jerger (Baden, SUI) and 8-2 against Ilknur Urusan (Erzurum, TUR). Abbes won 3-2 against Corrie Huerlimann (Zug, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the St. Galler Elite Challenge Championship title, Abbes earned 7.500 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN first prize cheque. Abbes move up 8 spots after posting a net gain of 6.375 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 58th overall with 50.148 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Abbes ranks 69th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 31.875 points earned so far this season.
