Matsumura went on to lose 5-3 against Kounosuke Takahashi (Nagano, JPN). Matsumura responded with a 8-5 win over Hitoshi Ishihara (Chubu, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Matsumura earned 2.250 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Chubu Curling Championships.
