Kouhei Sawai (Chubu, JPN) finished 1-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sawai lost 6-4 to Hirotaka Ishikuro (Chubu, JPN), droppimg another game, 8-2 to Kiyotaka Kurbayashi (Chubu, JPN) where Sawai responded with a 7-4 win over Daisuke Kobayashi (Chubu, JPN). Sawai went on to lose 9-5 against Kaito Fujii (Miyota, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Sawai earned 0.188 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 21 of the event schedule, Sawai did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Sawai ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
