Motojiro Go (Kitami, JPN) finished 3-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Go defeated Hirohiro Okamoto (Akita, JPN) 9-1, then won 9-8 against Harunobu Kawahira (Obihiro, JPN) and 8-1 against Takuma Harada (Toyama, JPN). Go went on to lose 5-4 against Syunta Kobayashi (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Go earned 0.563 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 19 of the event schedule, Go did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
