To advance to the championship game, McDonald won 7-0 over Brian Adams Jr. (Thunder Bay, NO) in the semifinals of the 2024 Performance Kia Charity Open in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; and won 7-2 over Ben Mikkelsen (Thunder Bay, NO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2024 Performance Kia Charity Open in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada;
McDonald finished 3-1 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McDonald defeated Ben Grant (Thunder Bay , NO) 7-3, then won 6-3 against Zach Warkentin (Thunder Bay, NO) and 4-1 against Bryan Burgess (Thunder Bay, NO). McDonald went on to lose 7-6 against Adams Jr. in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Performance Kia Charity Open Championship title, McDonald earned 3.750 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN first prize cheque. McDonald move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 1.5 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 49th overall with 69.344 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
